Overview
Ordforråd is a browser extension that helps you build vocabulary flashcards. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.
Data Collection
Ordforråd does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. We do not operate any servers.
Data Stored Locally
The following data is stored locally in your browser using the Chrome Storage API:
- Vocabulary cards: words you save, along with translations, examples, and other card data generated by the AI provider you choose.
- Settings: your selected languages, AI provider, model choice, and API keys.
This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly export it (e.g., as an Anki file) or unless it is sent to your chosen AI provider to generate card content.
Third-Party AI Providers
When you create a vocabulary card, the selected word and its surrounding sentence are sent to the AI provider you configured (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or a local LM Studio instance). This is necessary to generate translations and example sentences. Each provider has its own privacy policy:
If you use LM Studio, all processing happens locally on your computer and no data is sent to any external server.
Wiktionary
The extension may query the Wiktionary API to look up pronunciation (IPA) for saved words. No personal data is sent in these requests.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, transfer, or share user data with third parties for any purpose outside of the extension's core functionality described above.
Data Deletion
You can delete individual cards or all data at any time through the extension. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page with the new date.
